Always an Adventure
Well, I tried, but I failed. I set my silly goal of celebrating 365 oddball holidays with the littles, but by mid-April, we had stopped. Life happened, my planning calendar got set to the side, and Momma no longer knew what crazy day it was anymore. Little turned one, found his feet and took off like a rocket, literally.
I was not prepared for two highly rambunctious, constantly moving toddlers. And to be honest, I'm still not....but we get through the days.

With all the new energy in the house, coming up with specific themed activities was one more thing that I barely had time for and got pushed to the side, just like long showers, peeing alone, and any chance of ever sleeping through the night again. That doesn't mean we weren't still doing fun activities. They just weren't the quirky themed, day specific ones.
The point of the goal was to teach the littles that there's something to celebrate in every day. I think we achieved that, and are still finding ways to do it every day, but the execution was a bit overambitious. So I failed, but also succeeded and from what I've learned so far about motherhood, I'll take the 50/50 split as a win.
For what it's worth, since the last post we celebrated such holidays as National Tim Tam Day, Random Acts of Kindness Day, National Eat Ice Cream for Breakfast Day, National Sticky Bun Day, Fat Thursday (no that's not a typo, it's Polish), the start of Brazil's Carnival, National Polar Bear Day, Pancake Day, National Cheese Doodle Day, National Panda Day, St. Patrick's Day, National Corn Dog Day, National Chocolate Covered Raisin Day, Manatee Appreciation Day, International Beaver Day, and National Dolphin Day.
We've also taken numerous trips to the zoo, swam in our kiddie pool, painted and colored, tie dyed t-shirts, celebrated everyone's birthday (Momma, Little, Big, Middle, then Papa!), spent more hours than I care to count watching trains -- both real and model, explored new parks and walked a ton of miles, visited our first amusement park for the littles, and had a bunch of extended family time since that mid-April break. Middle is coming out of his shell and willing to try more and more each day. Little is developing quite the fireball personality and will most definitely be a source of Momma's anxiety for a while. Both are going to make me consider buying stock in a hair dye manufacturer to cover all these daily grays.
We've got a bunch more planned for the year. Some tiny and some huge adventures; all that we're really excited to share. I plan to do my best to find a quiet moment here and there to update the blog. But family time and memories, shared or not, are the real goal and one I'm happy to pursue every day.
