 Middle found his life goal today....Kazoo Master

January 28: National Kazoo Day

Introduced to the world at the 1852 Georgia State Fair, the kazoo has been a little buzzing pipe of madness for parents everywhere. "In 1983, Chaplin Willard of the Joyful Noise Kazoo Band created National Kazoo Day. The special day recognizes the joy and happiness of listening and playing the kazoo."

We started our morning with Middle's introduction to the instrument via one classic of a YouTube video...


If you get through the entire thing without laughing, head directly to your nearest ER because you are broken.

From that point in the morning, all Middle could talk about was a "zoo" and was totally excited when I told him we were going out today to purchase one. Momma did some research last night and found several options for procuring one, but the best seemed to be at the store Five Below. It was metal instead of plastic, so hopefully it would be a little more toddler resistant. 



We bundled up and headed out on our adventure. Little was asleep by the time we reached the store, so we left him in his carseat and pushed him around in a cart. This meant Middle got to walk through the store. He was so happy to walk down the aisles searching for his new favorite toy. It was eye level and he spotted it quickly. We grabbed another item for Saturday's holiday and worked our way up to the register. He proudly told the cashier about his new "zoo" and insisted on carrying the bag back to the van.

Once home, we ate lunch and then it was finally time to make some music.


Momma gave him a quick demo and he was off to the races.


Even Little found it hilarious, laughing along. Volume up!



I can't wait to be serenaded by this music at 3am 😂

 Ever seen the Netflix show Nailed It! ? Well if you have, you know which direction this post is heading. If you haven't, first, do yourself a favor and go giggle at a few episodes... after you're done reading, of course. Second, the premise is simple: Home bakers who have a poor track record in the kitchen compete to see who can make the least cringe-worthy recreation of a edible masterpiece. While this particular craft is not edible, I had some Nailed It worthy moments. It started with a simple Pinterest idea... And then there was trouble. Fizzy surprise pumpkins... because Middle loves pumpkins. Simple ingredients: baking soda, water, food coloring, dish soap, Halloween rings, and vinegar. Oh, the Places We'll Go!

It's been awhile since I posted. Between the hustle and bustle of hosting Thanksgiving and getting ready for Christmas, I haven't really had a moment where I wasn't doing something. I've been working hard on some more "mommy projects" and finally starting to finish some of them. This one is definitely one of my favorites. I've said before, I want to instill into the boys that life is about the adventures we take and the people we surround ourselves with. I came across this quote while surfing Pinterest (of course, right?) Being that Christmas is right around the corner, it was fitting. I wanted to do something special for all the boys that wasn't just a bunch of stuff under the tree that they'll no doubt forget about in 6 months. And so, a new family tradition is born. Design on a Naptime

Cold temperatures and early sunsets are creeping in around here. That means spending a lot more time inside. That also means I tend to get into a nesting state and start projects around the house. With two little ones already keeping me busy, starting and competing big projects has been tricky. I have, however, managed to tackle a few over the past week, during those two daily glorious hours of naptime. For my first project, I dug out an old piece I've been saving. Back when Papa R and I first moved into our current house, we were showing some visitors around and one of them happened to notice something peculiar nailed into the rafters of the basement ceiling. Upon further inspection we found a wooden key holder (it's wood and says "keys").
