Let the Celebrations Continue!
We were busy celebrating a late Christmas with Gi-Gi yesterday so I missed posting day 2, but here's a double dose of celebrations.
January 2nd: National Buffet Day
"National Buffet Day is about hosting or attending a buffet of epic proportions—enjoy a table spread with enough food to keep you full for a whole day, and interesting enough to make eating all day fun and exciting!"
Middle, being a toddler, isn't exactly a connoisseur of food nor can he eat huge meals just yet. But we found an epic buffet that even he could enjoy...
A candy buffet!
Grandpa Joe's is a Willy Wonka themed candy store with tons of hard to find, imported, and retro candy. They also have a huge selection of craft sodas, crazy gifts, an ice cream bar, and of course, the $5 candy buffet.
An entire corner of the shop is filled with bins of all different kinds of candy. For $5, you'll get to stuff as much as you can into one of their logo boxes.
Middle was excited to be able to pick pieces out of the bins and put them in his little box. He was so happy to carry it up to the counter and out to the car.
He's got a variety of chocolates that will last him for awhile (especially with all the Christmas and Halloween candy still in the house!)
January 3rd: National Chocolate Covered Cherry Day
Chocolate covered cherries were introduced to the world by Cella’s Confections in New York in 1929. What's not to love... it's chocolate, it's a cherry.
While Middle and I were at Grandpa Joe's for the buffet, I also grabbed a few cherry cordials for today's celebration.
Middle's never had cherries before, so I wasn't quite sure how he'd react. Momma had baby wipes and a plate to catch any that he might spit back out.
But much to Momma's surprise, Middle loved them!
There's fruit inside so it's kinda healthy, right?
Making it my next goal to see if I can get him to eat just the cherry...
Looking ahead, this week is going to be interesting!
