365 Reasons to Celebrate

It's the start of a brand new year and let's face it, the last few have been rough. This year, Middle and I are going to make sure it's a good one. Starting today, I'm making the commitment to celebrate every single day. The little things, the odd things, the crazy things; We're going to observe an obscure "holiday" each day. We toasted to our goal at the strike of midnight.

January 1st: National Fruitcake Toss Day

The holiday, which originated in Manitou Springs, Colorado, was created in order to help people get rid of unwanted fruitcake after Christmas. The concept is simple, get fruitcake and throw it!
It took a little searching, probably due to the waning popularity of fruitcake, but we found a log.

We're visiting Gram-Gram today so we started by launching our cake off her porch. The squirrels in her neighborhood are going to be happy tomorrow.

The wind was blowing awful hard and the rain was cold so we moved our holiday indoors to the kitchen.

It's a silly day, but Middle's laughter at being able to throw food was worth the cost of 10 fruitcakes.
